Ransomware and the WannyCry Virus

WHAT IS IT?
Imagine you come in to work one morning and you see a screen telling you your files are "locked" with state of the art encryption and you need to pay $300 in bitcoin to get the "unlock" code. What's a bitcoin? You check and sure enough, every Word document, spreadsheet, PowerPoint or J-peg you try to open gets the ransomware warning.

This new attack is global, impacting over 150 countries including the business, medical, manufacturing, transportation, and personal sectors of society. Are you prepared? Do you have a backup plan and disaster recovery plan? Are your computers patched? Antivirus up to date?

The threat is real; the impact is potentially catastrophic, and it's still true: "an ounce of prevention is wourth a pound of cure," so what are the real prevention and cure costs?

We are experienced cybersecurity experts having dealt with malware and especially ransomware.

Give us a call to discuss your situation, privately. We offer practical solutions and candid advice.

West Virginia Hiring?

Looking to hire? Concerned about workplace violence or resume truthfulness? According to a CareerBuilder.com survey, nearly half of hiring managers reported they caught a candidate lying on a resume.  Facing deadlines on projects, hiring managers and HR personnel with limited time face a common challenge: finding the right person quickly.  We recommend a complete background investigation including criminal records checks and in person interviews of at least three listed references, and an additional three interviews of developed character references (those not provided by the applicant).  Given that most workplace violence acts are not committed by people with existing criminal records, electronic searches are insufficient; interviews by a skilled investigator identifies red flags.  The cost of finding the right person easily outweighs wrong person’s legal expense, reputation damage, and degradation of morale and productivity.
